Plenty Valley Christian College (PVCC) is a thriving co-educational Christian College educating approximately 1,100 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 across its Primary and Secondary campuses in Melbourne’s north-eastern growth corridor. Set within an impressive environment overlooking the Kinglake Ranges, PVCC is a warm, relational and purposeful community committed to high-quality education grounded in a Biblical worldview. Its vision is to be a Christ-centred College that pursues excellence in education and character, daring students to be engaged, equipped and empowered to transform their communities locally and globally.
PVCC’s distinctive culture is reflected in values that call its community to nurture Godly character, learn courageously, build community, actively steward and strive for excellence. At the heart of the Deputy Principal appointment is the responsibility to build community by strengthening trust, connection and shared purpose across the College. This is a significant executive leadership opportunity for a person who will model the College’s Christian ethos with humility, courage, integrity and genuine care for others.
Beginning in 2027 and reporting to the Executive Principal, serving as a senior member of the Executive Team, the Deputy Principal will provide whole-school leadership across both Primary and Secondary campuses, helping ensure PVCC operates as one coherent K–12 College. The role will deputise for the Executive Principal when required, lead and support the Heads of Campus and connect work that crosses portfolios, ensuring strategy is translated into thoughtful, coordinated and consistent practice across the College.
The Deputy Principal will play a central role in aligning culture, expectations, transitions, communication and strategic implementation across K–12. Initial responsibilities will include executive oversight of Secondary wellbeing and operations, Learning Support, Risk & Compliance, cocurricular programs and Community Relations, while also supporting major projects, whole-school operations and organisational performance. The role is intentionally positioned to strengthen executive leadership capability and forms part of the College’s longer-term succession planning.
Central to the appointment will be the ability to bring a whole-of-College perspective to leadership and decision-making. The successful candidate will combine educational insight, strategic judgement and operational capability with the capacity to build trust, develop senior leaders and bring people together through change and organisational transition. They will be a trusted partner to the Executive Principal, a credible leader of the Heads of Campus and a highly visible presence across the College community.
The Deputy Principal will also contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of PVCC’s strategic priorities, remain informed by current and emerging thinking in learning and wellbeing, and represent the College confidently with staff, students, parents, the Board and external stakeholders. Importantly, this role requires a leader who can balance strategic intent with disciplined execution, ensuring that decisions made at executive level translate into consistent and effective practice across both campuses.
Key Selection Criteria: - An exemplary personal Christian faith and commitment to the vision, philosophy and Statement of Faith of the College, together with the capacity to contribute actively to its spiritual life.
- Executive leadership experience within a school setting, including experience leading or working closely across both Primary and Secondary contexts.
- Demonstrated capacity for whole-school K–12 strategic leadership, including translating strategy into coordinated and sustainable action.
- Strong understanding of student wellbeing frameworks and senior-level operational leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading, supporting and developing senior leaders, including Heads of Campus or equivalent.
- Sound understanding of risk, compliance and governance obligations relevant to a K–12 school.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, influence and collaboration across students, staff, parents, executive colleagues and the Board.
Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications and current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration are essential. A Master of Education or postgraduate qualification in educational leadership will be highly regarded.
PVCC is committed to child safety and maintains zero tolerance for child abuse. The successful applicant will be required to maintain current VIT registration or an appropriate Working with Children Check, undergo a National Police Records Check and demonstrate a strong understanding of child safety, mandatory reporting obligations and professional responsibilities in a school setting.
