Located in the Northern growth corridor of Melbourne, Hume Anglican Grammar is a dual campus co-educational Anglican Diocesan School offering education from Prep to Year 12. The School seeks an experienced and relational Education or Clinical Psychologist, to join a positive wellbeing team.

Hume Anglican Grammar School aims to provide students with an education that prepares them for the challenges of life, equips them to contribute to the community in an environment based on Christian values and at a cost affordable to as many families as possible. Hume Anglican Grammar has an open enrolment policy, so educates children from many faiths and with a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities.

The School currently has two campuses (Primary and Secondary), is focused on innovative thinking in its approach to teaching and learning and implements practices appropriate for the developmental stage. The School is in close partnership with the local Parish of Hume and St Peter’s Church, with whom facilities are shared.
In 2020, the school will have an enrolment of over 1,445 students (Mt Ridley 1,205 & Donnybrook 240) and employ 140 staff. Each student is cherished for their own individual strengths so they may be nurtured to prosper and flourish. Hume Anglican Grammar acknowledges the critical role of the School Psychologist in helping to support students across the school community.
The School Psychologist is required to provide a child and adolescent psychological service in the school and to work with other staff to support students and families. An important aspect of the role is to facilitate access to education and participation in school and to maximise educational outcomes for students.
The School Psychologist will be a qualified educational or clinical psychologist with an extensive background in counselling children. They will liaise closely with key leaders of the school, especially those entrusted with student wellbeing responsibilities, so that together they can provide timely and proactive support for students, whilst also being equipped to provide direction for other staff, when unexpected situations arise.

The School Psychologist will be recognised and highly respected by colleagues, parents and community members as an individual with appropriate experience. They will demonstrate a clear understanding of processes and procedures associated with handling case-sensitive situations and of the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality, where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be a proactive and collaborative professional able to:

  • Display a high level of experience in educational or clinical practice with young people
  • Administer psychological tests and assessments aligned with educational outcomes.
  • Work both autonomously as well as in a team environment, with strong relational skills.
  • Develop and sustain strong professional networks and liaise with community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, planning capabilities, and the ability to prioritise demands.
