Located in the Northern growth corridor of Melbourne, Hume Anglican Grammar is a dual campus co-educational Anglican Diocesan School offering education from Prep to Year 12. The School aims to provide students with an education that prepares them for the challenges of life, equips them to contribute to the community in an environment based on Christian values and at a cost affordable to as many families as possible. Hume Anglican Grammar has an open enrolment policy so educates children from many faiths and with a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities. It has a strong sense of inclusivity and a community-minded focus.

In 2020, the school will have an enrolment of over 1,445 students (Mt Ridley 1,205 & Donnybrook 240) and employ 140 staff. The school is on a growth trajectory and will ultimately have some 2,700 students on the two campuses with plans for further expansion.

The School currently has two campuses and is focused on the development of buildings, facilities and grounds and offers innovative thinking and advancements in its approach to teaching and learning. Each of the three schools (Primary at Donnybrook and Mt Ridley, and Secondary at Mt Ridley) cater for the individual needs of students and implement practices appropriate for that developmental stage.

This is a role that will support and contribute to the pioneering school which has a future focused strategic plan. The successful applicant plays a pivotal role in overall management of the school and its day-to-day operations. It is a highly respected position within the organisation, with a significant responsibility for providing high-level organisational management, to ensure the smooth running of school logistics.

The School Operations Manager is responsible for facets of the non-academic administration of the School, including facilities, maintenance and grounds, Information and Communication Technology, OHS, and oversight of external providers including canteen, caterers, cleaners, security, bus service, out-of-hours school care, waste disposal and staff uniform provider.

The School Operations Manager exhibits the highest level of judgement to calmly manage conflicting demands and ensure all facets of the logistics in conducting school operations runs smoothly. They foresee the impact of future activities and are able to anticipate demands upon school resources. They exhibit a high level of personal judgement and have the confidence and capability to make timely and workable decisions.
With a negotiated start date, this position is offered as a full time on-going role with 5-weeks paid annual leave. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled communicator, adept at engaging all stakeholders in changes to the operations.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative leader able to:

  • Commit and contribute to the P-12 vision and strategy of the School.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, planning capabilities, and the ability to prioritise demands.
  • Display a high level of experience in corporate or school operational management.
  • Work both autonomously as well as in a team environment, with strong relational skills.
  • Communicate clearly, with discretion and be aware of the importance of confidentiality.
