Established in 1895, Immanuel College is a school of the Lutheran Church of Australia with a rich history of providing a comprehensive education to day and boarding students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Immanuel College holds a unique position as a progressive school with a strong reputation for developing well-rounded students who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in their future endeavours. The school consistently ranks among the top-performing schools in the state, and is widely regarded as one of the most innovative schools in Australia. At Immanuel’s heart is a strong sense of service, leadership and innovation, enhanced by a well-established Aboriginal education program, a new Discovery Centre with entrepreneurship hub, and multiple pathways of learning for students to explore.

With the upcoming retirement of Mr Kevin Richardson after twenty years of outstanding leadership, the Immanuel College Council invites applications from dynamic educational leaders with a proven record of values led leadership, and a commitment to empowering student voice in a school where students actively co-create their learning environments and learning journeys. The Council seeks an educational leader who has the capacity to drive vision, execute the strategic development of the College and deliver strong academic, co-curricular, wellbeing and sustainable learning outcomes. The successful candidate will be a leader of people, able to translate ideas and concepts into action and engage others proactively in change and continuous improvement. With the support of the Council, the next Principal of Immanuel College will continue the trajectory of positioning the learning community as a leader, globally, in future focused education.

Commencing in Term 1, 2024, or as soon as thereafter by negotiation, the preferred candidate will be a motivated, relational leader, with an engaging presence and ability to build coherence and authentically connect with all members of the Immanuel community and external stakeholders.

The appointee will be able to:

  • demonstrate a clear commitment to leading the Christ-centred Lutheran values and ethos of the College
  • have proven ability to lead an excellent school by anticipating the needs of 21st century learners and teachers
  • articulate vision and strategic intent in a clear and inspiring manner
  • provide executive level leadership in all aspects of the school’s operations
  • demonstrate a high level of engagement in education, with thorough knowledge of developments at international, national and state levels
  • be an effective community builder with proven ability to engage with a range of stakeholders, utilising a flexible and warm approach to communication
  • demonstrate a sound understanding of the governance principles of a school

Immanuel College is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe.
