Announcement of Principal – Genazzano FCJ College, Melbourne

The Genazzano FCJ College Council has announced that following an extensive recruitment process, Mrs Loretta Wholley has been appointed as the next Principal of Genazzano, beginning in January 2021. The College Council was impressed with Mrs Wholley’s breadth of experience as a Principal, her Catholic sector leadership experience, her passion for engaging and empowering young people, together with her lived Catholic faith and commitment to embrace the FCJ charism, and considered this makes her an ideal educational leader for Genazzano.

Mrs Wholley brings to Genazzano significant experience in educational leadership. Currently in her eighth year as Principal of Merici College, Canberra, Mrs Wholley has worked in Catholic education in both Western Australia and the ACT. Prior to leading Merici College, Mrs Wholley held the position of Deputy Principal at Mercedes College, Perth, and Deputy Principal at Santa Maria College, an all girls’ Catholic boarding school also in Perth. Mrs Wholley is also the current President of CASPA (Catholic Secondary Principal’s Association), 2020 Telstra Business Woman of the Year Public Sector finalist, Catholic Education Commission Director and Executive Committee Member for the Canberra/Goulburn Diocese, and is an active member of the Mission and Faith Formation Steering Committee for the Canberra/Goulburn Diocese. In 2017, Mrs Wholley was awarded the ACEL (Australian Council for Educational Leadership) fellowship award for services and leadership in Catholic education. Mrs Wholley has completed a Master of Educational Leadership, Master of Religious Education, in addition to a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. She is a fluent speaker of Italian.

Mrs Wholley is married to Michael, and together they are proud parents of two young daughters, who are looking forward to moving to Melbourne.

St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School Appoints Helen Finlay as new Principal

After an extensive search of educational leaders with demonstrated credentials, the St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School Council has announced the appointment of Helen Finlay as the next Principal of the school, to commence in 2021. The comprehensive recruitment process , conducted by Hutton Consulting Australia, commenced in March of this year and attracted an excellent field of candidates from within Australia and overseas.

Helen is currently the Head of Junior School, St Philip’s Christian School, Gosford, and Director of Teaching and Learning across the whole school (Reception to Year 12). She has previously been an education consultant for the NSW Association of Independent Schools, and taught at St Luke’s Anglican School Bayview and Oxford Falls Grammar School.

Helen holds a Master of Education from the University of NSW, Certificate of Gifted Education from the University of NSW, Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education from Macquarie University, and is currently completing her Masters of Education Leadership at Macquarie University.

Helen is enthusiastic, engaging, and has extensive teaching experience in primary education, together with considerable International Baccalaureate experience and accreditation. She is a passionate, innovative and resourceful leader in education, with a proven ability to cast vision, drive twenty first century learning, and lead staff through the necessary changes of school improvement. As an experienced speaker, she has presented at education conferences and written and delivered over thirty professional development courses for teachers and education leaders, and consulted to principals and teachers across a range of Independent Schools.

Maria Haggett announced as new Principal of Mater Christi College

After an extensive national and international search conducted by Hutton Consulting Australia, the Mater Christi College Board has announced the appointment of Maria Haggett as the next Principal of the school, to commence in 2021.

Ms Haggett has significant experience in educational leadership.  Currently in her seventh year as Deputy Principal of St Bede’s College Mentone, Ms Haggett has worked in both Catholic Education and Diocesan roles.  Prior to St Bede’s, Ms Haggett held the position of Deputy Principal at Catholic College Sale, Year 9 & 10 Programs Leader at Lavalla Catholic College and Youth and Sacramental Coordinator at St Mary’s Cathedral Parish, Sale.  Additionally, Ms Haggett was a partner in a hospitality business in Sale, fulfilling a long-held desire to utilise her skills in commercial cookery and hospitality, alongside her interests in music, the creative arts and AFLW/M.

Ms Haggett is currently undertaking a Doctor of Education at the University of Melbourne and completing a Graduate Certificate in Religious Education at Australian Catholic University.  Ms Haggett has completed post graduate studies in Instructional Leadership and Theology; she holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts.

Ms Haggett’s style of collaborative leadership and passion for providing a future focused faith-based education for young women, was inspired during her time as a student at Our Lady of Sacred Heart College in Bentleigh.  Her strong personal educational philosophy centres on the development and success of the staff and students within her care.

Ms Haggett is married to Steve Nash and together they are proud parents of two adult children, Lily and Sophie.

St Andrew’s School introduces Jackie Becher as their new Principal

After an extensive national and international search conducted by Hutton Consulting Australia, the St Andrew’s School Board has announced the appointment of Jackie Becher (‘Becker’) as the next Principal of the school, to commence in 2021.

With more than 20 years’ experience gained both in Australia and overseas, Jackie has most recently been leading EtonHouse International Education Group as Executive Director of Pedagogy and Executive Principal since 2014, across 60 schools in the Asia Pacific region. Jackie’s extensive experience in offering curriculum support, supervision and evaluation complements her deep commitment to pedagogical knowledge, innovation and empowering leadership.

Recognised as an expert in Reggio Emilia and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), Jackie also organises the Reggio Emilia Asia Pacific conferences and holds strong connections with educators and researchers globally.

Jackie’s Australian experience includes working across Western Australia, where she contributed to the national conversation in education through advisory groups for curriculum. Her work in remote schools was acknowledged by the WA Primary Principals’ Association with a ‘Leading from the Front’ Innovation Award for excellence in remote, regional and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. During her time as Deputy Principal at Aubin Grove Primary School in Perth, Jackie was awarded the WA Primary Principals’ Association ‘Level 3 Innovations Award’ for excellence in leadership.

Hume Anglican Grammar School welcomes their new Operations Manager

Following a search conducted by Hutton Consulting Australia, Adriana Bonifacio has joined Hume Anglican Grammar School as Operations Manager.

Adriana is a highly successful professional in the education industry with almost 20 years of experience in leadership, teaching, strategic planning and business administration. She comes to Hume from Geelong Grammar School.

Adriana is an experienced public speaker and writer with an MBA, Grad Dip Ed and BA. Hutton Consulting Australia congratulates Adriana on her appointment.

Kilbreda College announces new business Manager

Kilbreda College has appointed Christopher Shelly as their new Business Manager following a search conducted by Hutton Consulting Australia.

Chris has broad experience as an Operations & Finance Executive across a range of Social Profit organisations gained over the last 15 years. He is an accomplished leader with strong interpersonal skills.

His interests outside of work are cycling, the outdoors and of course, his family.

Following a search conducted by Hutton Consulting Australia, Luke Preston has joined The Kilmore International School as their new Business Manager.

Luke is an experienced Finance and Operations Manager, and Qualified Accountant with a strong background in Finance, HR, Risk and general business management. He has over 10 years’ experience in the Education/NFP/SME sector, including 3 years as Finance Manager at Melbourne Grammar School, with key corporate roles with Tennis Victoria and Cricket Australia prior to that.

Luke’s passion is for improving business operations and developing staff wherever he works.
