St Philip’s Christian College Newcastle (NSW) is seeking a relational and innovative leader, committed to Christian education and to leading a future focused, dynamic Senior School.

St Philip’s Christian College Newcastle, has over 1200 students and is located in charming residential Waratah. This vision involves developing 21st century education practices, developing a range of strategies to meet the needs of children, establishing and sharing community facilities as well as setting new benchmarks in developing a sustainable school. This vision is set within the context of the Christian values of faith, hope and love.

At St Philip’s Christian College Newcastle, the aim is to provide an enriching and liberating education; an education that not only teaches, but transcends the discipline of learning and the acquisition of competencies, to the acquiring of a deep sense of the greatness of life and learning. Attention is given to the development of the whole child through a balanced curriculum involving the academic, social, physical and spiritual areas.

The Role

Due to the continued growth of the College, an opportunity has arisen for a relational, innovative, Christian leader to lead the Senior School Team in continuing the development and delivery of a sustainable, innovative vision for powerful learning. Commencing in Term 1 2021 or earlier, the Head of Senior School, will have the motivation, commitment and capacity to lead the Senior School with a flexible future focused approach.

Reporting to the Principal as part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Senior School, will work collaboratively with the other Heads of Schools as an influential, positive, creative and visible leader. They will be able to inspire and motivative colleagues and students to take risks with the learning and find their pathway through and beyond the College. The capacity to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and lead in challenging contexts is central to this role. It is essential for the successful applicant to have a focus on student-centred learning, a high organisational and solution focused approach as well as a strong understanding of emerging trends and best practice in national and international contexts.

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • Be committed to the principles of Christian schooling, including being fully supportive of the Mission Statement, Vision Statements and Core Values of the College.
  • Highly relational with a focus on the development of strong, sustainable community connections
  • Collaborative and inspirational leadership of staff to create and implement sustainable future focused programs
  • Strong pastoral expertise with a deep knowledge of current approaches in wellbeing
  • Evidence of strong operational and management experience with a solution focused lens
  • Demonstrate integrity and curiosity in a Christian learning community that supports collegial enquiry and professional growth
