Huntingtower has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Middle School to join the School Executive and lead the Middle School from the beginning of Term 2, 2021 or earlier by negotiation.  We are seeking applications from dynamic and experienced leaders who can fully support the School’s vision and values. The Middle School incorporates Years 7-9 with 280 students and is a valuable part of the K-12 School of 750 students.

In this key senior role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and day to day management of the Middle School.  Reporting to the Principal, you will have direct responsibility for providing a kind, collaborative and inspiring educational environment that instils in each student the inspiration and capacity to excel. You will lead a committed team in implementing an innovative educational experience for students to reflect contemporary evidenced-based learning principles, incorporating a project based learning approach and integrated technology with a focus on STEM.

The Head of Middle School will also be responsible for developing strong community connections, participating in the Parents & Friends committee, and maintaining a presence among professional networks.

Huntingtower is a K-12 School and part of this role involves establishing clear pathways and transitioning between the sub-schools, and the monitoring of shared resources across the campus.

Your years of experience in a significant leadership role have given you an outstanding knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. You are an educator with a future focused vision for advancing the School’s educational opportunities and advocating values-based education.

A passionate, dedicated, reflective leader, with a record of inspiring students and leading dedicated and enthusiastic staff, you will demonstrate the capacity to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the community to optimise the learning and wellbeing of all students and staff.
 
To be successful you will bring:

  • a track record of educational leadership to manage change successfully and deliver continuous school improvement.
  • demonstrated experience leading a strong, contemporary and challenging middle years curriculum, delivered through the framework of the Australian Curriculum and with a trans-disciplinary learning focus.
  • a track record of building and mentoring highly effective teams.
  • skills to develop, review and deliver school strategy and operational plans.
  • ability to motivate and engage staff, students and parents to ensure a climate of support and high expectations.
  • experience of integrating and enabling technology for learning and using data to track student performance.
  • experience of implementing Wellbeing policies and programmes.
  • excellent communication skills in a range of formal and informal settings
  • State based teacher registration
