Flinders Christian Community College seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to lead best practice in the area of individual needs across K – 12. The College is an independent, coeducational, interdenominational Christian school, with an open and inclusive enrolment policy, for students in Kinder to Year 12, with beautiful campuses located in Carrum Downs, Mt Martha and Tyabb. Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the Head of Inclusion and Differentiation will be an expert in leading individual needs programs. An important aspect of this role is to facilitate access to education and participation in school and to maximise educational outcomes for students. They will liaise closely with key leaders of the College, across all areas of teaching and learning, pastoral care and wellbeing. The appointee will be a strong communicator with the capacity to build strong positive relationships with staff as well as students and their families.
The Head of Inclusion and Differentiation will have qualifications in the area of teaching, psychology and special education with the capacity to administer educational assessments. They will be able to demonstrate an extensive experience in educational support, leading professional learning for staff and delivering information to parents. They will have a clear understanding of the processes and procedures required for the VCE and NCCD and belong to appropriate networks and professional bodies.
Commencing in January 2021, the successful candidate will be a proactive and collaborative professional able to demonstrate:
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align with the College’s vision, mission, values and Strategic Plan
- Effective stakeholder management and excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Students with Disabilities and broader school funding models (I.SV. & N.C.C.D.S.W.D.)
- Advanced theory and best practice of learning needs and disabilities
- Collaboration with staff in writing ILPs and capacity to deliver professional learning
- Ability to network within and external to the College community
- Understanding of ‘Technology Supported Learning’ pedagogy
- Experience in interpreting reports and assessments.
