Overnewton Anglican Community College is a vibrant, inclusive school with a proud Christian foundation, where students are at centre of all that we do. The College consists of two campuses, both co-educational, and serving the needs of over 2,000 students. The Yirramboi Campus, situated in Keilor alongside the Maribyrnong River and hectares of farmland, is home to students across the Middle School (Years 5 – 8) and Senior School (Years 10-12). The campus’ indigenous name, Yirramboi, means ‘the future’, an apt designation for a College that offers broad educational opportunities to prepare students to serve as empowered, thoughtful, community-minded citizens.
This position is available following the announcement that after 21 years of outstanding service to the school community, the current Deputy Principal – Head of Yirramboi, Mr Rob Huntington will retire at the conclusion of the 2023 academic year.
The Deputy Principal – Head of Yirramboi, as member of the College Leadership Team, is a significant role. It serves as one of two Deputy Principals who deputise for the Principal. The school requires an experienced leader who will partner with the Principal and key stakeholders as, together, we steer the College into the future.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for both driving the strategic direction of the College and the daily operations of the Yirramboi campus. As the head of a large campus, the Deputy Principal has significant autonomy and responsibility. They will foster conditions that promote an aspirational, transformative and inclusive student, staff and school community culture. This is achieved through the main functions of the role: a commitment to growth and improvement in academic standards and student wellbeing, supporting the professional practice and development of staff, chairing committees and mentoring teams and partnering with the community on their Overnewton journey.
The Deputy Principal is an authentic and intuitive leader who is aspiring to Principalship. The successful candidate will bring a breadth of leadership experience, strong change management acumen, and a solutions-focused approach to the complexities of a modern school. As an effective systems thinker, the successful candidate has exemplary interpersonal skills, and communicates in a manner that is articulate, inclusive and respectful. They will demonstrate an ability to understand current culture, clearly articulate a compelling future vision and deliver an evidence-informed strategy to guide change as required.
