Beginning in January 2020, the Classroom Music/Performing Arts teacher is an integral member of the highly accomplished Performing Arts team and reports to the Head of Performing Arts.
We are seeking applications from a suitably qualified and experienced teacher of Classroom Music and/or Drama (Secondary), with a strong interest and passion for directing Musical Theatre productions. This is a full time, ongoing position commencing 2020 with the successful candidate able to demonstrate a commitment to best practice in teaching students critical analysis, creating and performing within the Performing Arts. As a member of the Performing Arts faculty, the successful candidate will contribute to a range of Performing Arts events run by the School including the Senior School Musical Production as a component of their teaching allocation.
A proven ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and collaborate with teams across the whole school is essential.
The successful applicant will:
- Utilise a range of techniques, resources and technologies that support learning of the content, processes and skills required to teach in the Performing Arts faculty, with a focus on Years 7 & 8
- Inspire and motivate students to become actively involved and engaged in the Music and Drama programs offered at Strathcona
- Lead and direct a high quality Musical Theatre production, showcasing the talents of students, encouraging participation and engaging community involvement
